Tuesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Lane closures are scheduled at mile markers 137-139 for the Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

• 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight – 3 a.m. Full traffic stops for up to 30-minute intervals
• 4:30 a.m. – All lanes open

Exit 148 (Quantico)

Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Mobile operation with a single lane closure for 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Exit 143 (Garrisonville)

Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. Single lane closure for 95 Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)

Wednesday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 10 a.m. and Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Lane closures are scheduled at mile markers 139-137 for the Express Lanes Fredericksburg Extension project.

• 9 p.m. – Single lane closure
• 10 p.m. – Double lane closure
• Midnight – 3 a.m. Full traffic stops for up to 30-minute intervals
• 4:30 a.m. – Two lanes open, single lane closure remains
• 10 a.m. – All lanes open, expect on Friday when all lanes open at 6 a.m.

Route 1 at Falmouth Bridge

Thursday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge repair. Alternating lane closures on Route 1 at the Falmouth Bridge over the Rappahannock River, which connects Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg.

Route 3

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Lane closures and shoulder closures for utility work between Dairy Lane and Rumford Road.

Route 17 Northbound

Tuesday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Single lane closure between Sanford Drive and Short Street for Improve 95 construction.

Centreport Parkway

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair near Mountain View Road. Flaggers may be present to direct drivers through the work zone.

Courthouse Road

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Single lane closure near the I-95 southbound entrance ramp.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) at I-95

Tuesday – Wednesday,  9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Alternating lane closures on westbound Route 610 at the bridge over I-95 for repairs.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)

Tuesday – Wednesday,  9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Single lane closure on westbound Route 610 between Worth Connector Avenue and Dunn Drive for water line work under permit.

Route 614

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone on Route 614 near Alcotti Run.

Route 3 Eastbound at Brock Road

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Single lane closure on Route 3 eastbound near Brock Road.

Route 649 (Mill Pond Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone on Mill Pond Road near the Po River.

Route 672 (Hall Industrial Drive)

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Road repair. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone on Hall Industrial Drive near Massaponax Church Road.

Route 1 Northbound

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Survey and pipe work on Route 1 with single lane closures near the Ladysmith Center Shopping Mall and Collins Boulevard.

Route 2 Northbound

Monday – Friday, Shoulder closure. Turn lane construction under permit on northbound Route 2 between Mine Road and Bowman Drive.

Route 30

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair near Route 652. Flaggers may be present to direct drivers through the work zone.

Route 208 Eastbound

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.Single lane closure on eastbound Route 208 (Courthouse Road) between Hood Drive and Route 1 for turn lane construction under permit.

Route 301 Northbound and Southbound

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Single lane closures at various locations.

Route 606

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone on westbound Route 606 near Route 632.

Route 639 (Ladysmith Road)

Tuesday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Motorists should be alert for travel lane shift and construction work along the shoulder near the Route 1 intersection and Allen Street.

Route 658

Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Guardrail repair. Flaggers will alternate one-way traffic through the work zone on eastbound Route 658 near Route 1.

Route 360 over Mattaponi River

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge repair. Single eastbound lane closure on Route 360 at the bridge over the Mattaponi River.

Route 628 over Mattaponi River

Tuesday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bridge repair. A flagging crew will direct drivers through the work zone on Route 628 at the bridge over the Mattaponi River.

Northumberland County

Route 605 (Balls Neck Road)

Starting Thursday, Jan. 5, Balls Neck Road will close to traffic at the bridge over Mill Creek for bridge repair. The portion of the road will remain closed for approximately three months. Click here to view online detour map.

Caroline County

Route 639 (Ladysmith Road) Widening

Construction is underway to widen Route 639 (Ladysmith Road) to four travel lanes between I-95 and just west of Route 1. A new raised median will separate eastbound and westbound travel lanes to allow for improved movement through the corridor. Additional left and right turn lanes will be built on Ladysmith Road at the Route 1 intersection. A shared use path, sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be installed. The project is expected to be complete in May 2024.

Route 652 (Cool Water Drive) over Polecat Creek

Cool Water Drive was closed to through traffic in March 2022 at the bridge over Polecat Creek, and will remain closed for a bridge replacement project. Significant deterioration was discovered in key bridge elements during a bridge inspection and VDOT closed the bridge for motorist safety. Motorists should follow signs posted along the recommended detour route. Construction is underway. The bridge is estimated to open to traffic in late August 2023.

King George County

Route 301 and the Nice-Middleton Bridge Replacement Project

The new Nice-Middleton Bridge is now open to traffic over the Potomac River. Road work continues on Route 301 near the approaches. Read MDTA’s release here.

Mathews County

Route 223 (Old Ferry Road) over Milford Haven at Gwynn’s Island

Temporary traffic signals are installed on Route 223 at each approach to the bridge over Milford Haven. One-way, alternating traffic will remain in place, controlled by the temporary signals, through April 2023 due to a bridge maintenance project. Bridge openings for marine traffic are suspended through April 2023.

Richmond County

Route 637 (County Bridge Road)

County Bridge Road is closed to through traffic at the bridge over Cat Point Creek due to damage following heavy rain and flooding in summer 2021. VDOT has accelerated this project to advance to construction as soon as possible. The bridge replacement project has been advertised for construction, and work is expected to begin in December 2022 to early 2023. County Bridge Road will remain closed to through traffic during construction, until the new bridge reopens by April 26, 2024.

Route 360 at Rich Neck Road/Mulberry Road

A single eastbound and westbound lane are closed on Route 360 near Route 619 (Rich Neck Road/Mulberry Road) during construction of an intersection improvement project. Both lanes will remain closed until work is complete. The project will extend turn lanes to enhance safety and improve operations at the intersection.

Spotsylvania County

Route 1 and Commonwealth Drive

Be alert for construction activity on Route 1 near the Commonwealth Drive intersection, where work is underway to build a nearly 700-space Park & Ride commuter lot. Be alert for work zone barriers along the shoulders of Route 1, and lanes that are shifted to the east near the Commonwealth Drive intersection. Project completion is anticipated in May 2023.

Route 17 Overpass Replacement and Widening

Construction started in December 2020 on a project to replace the existing two-lane interstate overpass on Route 17 with a four-lane bridge. Route 17 will be widened to four travel lanes to just east of the Hospital Boulevard/Germanna Point Drive intersection. Sidewalk, a shared-use path, and pedestrian crossing equipment will be added as part of the project. Improvements will be completed in Feb. 2024.
