Stafford Sheriff’s Office announces body-worn cameras

by | Jan 10, 2023 | Police and Fire

From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

After an extensive test and evaluation period, Sheriff Decatur is happy to announce the implementation of a body-worn camera system.
Stafford County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies have been equipped with in-car camera systems since the 1990’s and began the process of testing and evaluating body-worn cameras several years ago. A selection was made, and funding was approved by the Board of Supervisors last year to implement Axon body-worn cameras. Deputies will begin wearing the cameras this week during their patrol shift and the rollout will continue for the next several months to equip all patrol deputies.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office also transitioned to Axon in-car cameras in November of 2022. The new systems allow video evidence to integrate with our computer aided dispatch (CAD) and be easily recalled for investigations.
Sheriff Decatur and the members of the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office are grateful for the continued support of the Board of Supervisors.
