From Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department:–posted to Facebook on Sunday

Now that we have had some time to absorb the devastating news of Travis’s passing, we want you to remember Travis for the incredible person and firefighter that he was…first and foremost, he was a dedicated husband to his wife Brandy and father to his daughters Mckenzie and Mya. His family will need your continued prayers for the rough days, weeks, months, and years ahead of them. As a member of the SVFD, his commitment to this department is immeasurable and the work he has done to better us all will live on. He spent countless hours volunteering his time and we thank him for his devotion to serving. We ask that you also pray for his fire family as his loss has been very hard on us all.
We promise to carry on Travis’s legacy by strengthening our commitment to serving the citizens of Spotsylvania, just as he did. We also promise to be there for his family with anything they may need and will ensure they always feel a part of our SVFD family. Travis is no longer in pain but the pain his family is experiencing with such a short notice is devastating.
Yesterday afternoon, Chief Williams and several members from Company 4 visited Travis to present him with his lifetime membership award. This award presentation has been in the works but his decline was much quicker than anyone could have anticipated, we are at peace knowing he knew how much his dedication meant to us.
Last night we held a benefit for Travis’s family and the response and attendance was overwhelming and we thank you all.
Chief Williams visited Travis’s family today and was able to give them the nearly $8,500 raised yesterday at the benefit. We cannot thank you all enough for the support.
Lastly, Chief Williams wants to make sure all members know that he is available by phone or in person if you need to talk.  If you wish to donate to his family, their GoFundMe link is https://www.gofundme.com/f/3ezzn-medical-bills…or you can donate to his family directly through PayPal at [email protected].
