Change your clock, check your smoke alarm batteries

by | Mar 8, 2023 | Police and Fire

Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 12 at 2 a.m.  When you set your clocks forward an hour, take the time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and check the manufacturing date on your alarms (need to be replaced every ten years). It is also important to test your smoke alarms monthly, not just during the time change.

If you are a Spotsylvania County resident and need assistance with testing or installing a battery-operated smoke alarm, please call our Fire Prevention Division at (540) 507-7925 during the business hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
