From the Stafford Sherif’s Office:

A wanted Stafford woman ended up in Rappahannock Regional Jail after not only shoplifting, but encouraging her daughter to as well.
On March 18th at approximately 5:49 p.m. Deputy C.C. Crossett responded to Weis, located at 50 Foreston Woods Drive, for a report of a larceny. Store staff advised they observed a juvenile steal just under $60 worth of items, including alcohol.
When the juvenile passed all points of sales and attempted to leave the store, staff stopped her. As the juvenile and store staff talked, the juvenile’s mother, who also had stolen items, intervened. The mother tried to convince the juvenile to flee the store with her. When the juvenile declined, the mother fled the store, got into her vehicle, and left the scene, leaving the juvenile by herself.
It was discovered the mother was wanted out of Chesapeake for failure to appear. The mother eventually responded back to the scene and surrendered to deputies. The 47-year-old mother was charged with larceny, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and child abuse. She was served on her warrants, as well as her outstanding warrant, and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. Criminal complaints were filed on the juvenile for shoplifting, and underage possession of alcohol.
The name of the suspect will not be released to protect the identity of the juvenile.
