From the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office:

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the Caroline County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call, reporting what appeared to be an altercation between two tractor-trailer drivers driving on Ruther Glen Road. The caller reported that one tractor-trailer driver was firing a shotgun out of his window.

Deputies quickly responded and found one tractor-trailer stopped along Signboard Road, near Concord Road. It was determined that this tractor-trailer driver was not armed. Soon after, deputies located the second tractor-trailer near the intersection of Concord Road and Richmond Turnpike. After investigation, a loaded shotgun was found with the second tractor-trailer driver. That driver was identified as 27 year-old Daniel Skobic, of San Angelo, Texas.

After further investigation, Skobic was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm and brandishing a firearm. Skobic was held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail. Deputies believe both drivers engaged in an altercation over driving behavior on Interstate 95, which resulted in shots being fired on Ruther Glen Road.
