The Delmarva Shorebirds attacked the Fredericksburg bullpen in a 8-5 comeback win to close out the series.

Delmarva scored first on a balk in the top of the third inning, but the Nats bounced back in the bottom half. With two outs, Robert Hassell III drew a walk, then Daylen Lile crushed a double to plate Hassell and tie the game at 1-1.

In the home half of the fourth inning, Sammy Infante got hit by a pitch to lead things off. Roismar Quintana singled behind him, then Murphy Stehly reached on a single of his own. But on that single, Sammy Infante got thrown out at home trying to score. Later in the frame, a wild pitch let Quintana advance to third base. Jonathon Thomas was able to drive Quintana home with an infield single, making it 2-1 FredNats.

Quintana picked up an RBI single in the fifth inning to score Elijah Green, and give Fredericksburg a 3-1 edge.

But in the top of the sixth, Carter Young roped a leadoff double and Jackson Holliday reached on an error right behind him. Samuel Basallo came up next, and roped a two-run triple to tie the game at 3-3. Anderson De Los Santos followed Basallo with a RBI single, and the ‘Birds pulled ahead 4-3. Michael Mantecon added another run, with his liner into right field to make it 5-3.

For the Nats, Robert Hassell opened the bottom of the seventh with a walk, to bring up Daylen Lile. He then turned on a 2-2 offering and powered it into the right field bullpen for a game tying home run.

However, Stiven Acevedo cranked a two-run blast of his own in the top of the eighth inning to give the Shorebirds a 7-5 lead. Delmarva added one more run in the ninth, as they took the series finale 8-5. Fredericksburg hits the road this week for a series against the Lynchburg Hillcats.
