Name change & upgrade–Expo Center now Fredericksburg Convention Center
The Silber Family announced a name change to the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center in an effort to reposition the venue as a multi-purpose destination and events center. Additionally, the Silber Family, and the venue operator, OVG360, shared details of a substantial building remodel to the inside and outside of the facility.
The specific renovations include major upgrades to flooring, restrooms, and new carpeting throughout the 15,000-square-foot ballroom and conference rooms, and an exterior facelift. The “make-over” of the facility is expected to be completed by early September this year.
“The newly renamed Fredericksburg Convention Center allows us to reimagine and define how the space will be used for live events, conventions and conferences,” said Art Silber. “We want the Fredericksburg Convention Center to be a destination that brings people from the surrounding region
and across the U.S. to Fredericksburg.”
The Fredericksburg City Council and Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) agreed to provide a combined $750,000 over the next five years consisting of $500,000 from the City and $250,000 in the form of a loan from the EDA to assist the Silber Family and OVG360 to repurpose the
venue and seek new opportunities to bring tourism to the region. “The involvement and support of the City was essential to us being able to deliver a re-envisioned ‘Convention Center’ that will foster growth at our facility, surrounding businesses, and throughout Fredericksburg,” said Seth Silber.
The Silber Family has been dedicated to the enhancement of the venue since they reached an agreement in 2020 to better coordinate and improve the former Expo Center. the baseball stadium and the Fredericksburg Nationals baseball team, also owned and operated by the Silber family.
