Stafford Sheriff’s Office responds to Taylor Swift tickets swindle

by | May 13, 2023 | Police and Fire

From the Stafford Sheriff’s Office:

Swift Swindle
A Stafford resident has been left thinking she will “never ever get back together” with her money after attempting to purchase Taylor Swift concert tickets through a Facebook resellers group. She is now thinking, “I knew you were trouble,” about the shady seller.
On May 12th Deputy J.E. Cordes handled a phone complaint for a fraud. The victim relayed she had found Taylor Swift concert tickets for $300 in a Facebook resellers group. After sending the money through a cash app, the seller failed to provide the tickets, and ironically, vanished faster than legitimate Taylor Swift concert tickets.
The victim attempted to “shake it off” and reverse the transaction, but the bank was unable to help. We know “all too well,” these cases rarely end like a “love story.”
Always use caution when making purchases online. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
