Walk for Suicide Prevention
Saturday, September 7th, 2019
9:00 am – Old Mill Park
Walk to raise awareness about suicide in our community and raise funds to support suicide prevention education in our local schools.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death in kids and teens ages 10 to 19 in the United States. Depression and suicidal tendencies can go undetected by friends and family members.
The Another Day campaign and the Walk for Suicide Prevention exists to raise funds to support the Suicide Prevention Education program. The Suicide Prevention Education program provides local seventh and ninth grade students with the skills needed to identify signs and symptoms of depression and suicide and, more importantly, what to do about it.
100% of funds raised for the Walk for Suicide Prevention are used support Mental Health America of Fredericksburg’s Suicide Prevention Education program. Every $250 raised provides over ten local middle and high school students with the ability to identify the signs and symptoms of suicide and depression and what they can do to get help.
