Spencer Devon Brewing, La Petite Auberge Place in Virginia Culinary Challenge

Spencer Devon Brewing and La Petite Auberge placed second and third respectively in the Eat Like a Local – Local Hot Spots category of the 2016 Virginia Culinary Challenge. Two Drummers Smokehouse in Toano. Va., placed first.

Spencer Devon Brewing is located at 106 George St. and La Petite Auberge is located at 311 William St. FoodE, 2015 winner, and Bistro Bethem were among the 33 nominated restaurants in this category.

The Virginia Tourism Corporation’s 2016 competition consisted of five rounds.

Fredericksburg’s Kybecca, located at 402 William St., won the first round, Best Small Bites.

Allman’s Bar-B-Q, 1299 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Fredericksburg, placed third in the second round, Burgers and BBQ. Wolfe’s BBQ in Marion, Va., won the BBQ round. NN Burger in Kilmarnock, Va., won for burgers. There were no Fredericksburg eateries nominated in the burger category.

There were no Fredericksburg restaurants in the third round, Oysters and Seafood. White Dog Bistro in Mathews, Va., was the winning restaurant.

Eileen’s Bakery and Cafe, 1115 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, was a finalist in the fourth round, Bakeries and Desserts. The Family Bakery in Gate City, Va., won the round.
