Fredericksburg Center of Virginia’s Medicaid Expansion Battle

Gov. Terry McAuliffe will bring his push for Medicaid expansion in Virginia to Fredericksburg today, home turf of House Speaker Bill Howell (R-Stafford), the state legislator leading the fight against it.
On Thursday, House Republicans unsuccessfully pushed for a special session to deal with the issue, which currently is part of Howell’s proposed budget. A special session would have removed the issue from the budget.
Free Car Seats for Qualifying Families

Qualifying families in the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline and King George may obtain free car seats for their children. The program is part of the Safety First Regional Car Seat Campaign 2014.
Healthy Families Rappahannock Area will distribute the car seats to local Medicaid families from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31.
Parent Education – Infant Development Program Open House
The Parent Education – Infant Development Program (PE-ID) will celebrate its 35th anniversary with an open house from 3 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 700 Kenmore Ave. in Fredericksburg. A presentation will take place at 4 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
